Federal Court Issues Ruling on the Community Brigade Legal Complaint

The Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness Foundation (“LAEPF” or “Foundation”) is grateful for the recent Federal Court ruling in which the defendants’ submissions were denied and each and every cause of action brought by the Foundation in its complaint was upheld as being valid to move forward. This decision allows LAEPF to proceed with the case and continue protecting the integrity, history, and future of the official LAEPF Community Brigade program.

The Court issued a comprehensive ruling, detailing the logic behind its decision and explaining why the law supported the allegations brought by the Foundation.

We want to be very clear: this lawsuit is not against the honest, well-meaning Community Brigade volunteers who have trained, served, and given their time to help protect their communities. Indeed, LAEPF thanks the service and dedication by these Community Brigade volunteers.

This federal case is solely focused on the corporation and its officers who were directly involved in the creation of a duplicate entity calling itself “Community Brigade,” along with two independent subcontractors who were also involved. No volunteers, entities, or individuals outside this group are included in this action.

We look forward to moving ahead in a positive and constructive manner while allowing the legal process to continue revealing the reality of the actions taken including the deliberate creation of the duplicate named company, duplicate bank account, associated bank wiring instructions, trademark infringement, misuse of LAEPF’s logo, and computer application manipulation.
